Behavior Expectations:
All student are expected to follow C.A.T.S. expectations detailed in the behavior page.
Course Description:
7th grade Life Science class is a year long class which focuses on biology.
Content:
CA State 7th grade Science Standards with the general scope, sequence, and pacing provided by CNUSD
(see pace page)
Classwork:
Students will be given adequate time to complete all work/studying in class. Students that work at a slower pace will have to complete their work and studying at home if they find the time in classs is not adequate. Most of the notes will be given to the students via copy paper or on the website. Classwork will be turned in at the end of each unit and students that have all the notes will earn at total of 5% extra credit if compete and neat (no rips, no tattered papers, and no wrinkled papers). All papers must have the proper heading in the upper right hand corner:

If a lab is performed in class, the lab write-up/data will count for half or more of the lab quiz and must be turned in when the quiz is taken. Since lab will be done in class, late lab work will not be accepted. If a student is absent from class on the day of the lab the absent student can copy the date etc. from their table partner.
Students are expected to fill out their planner daily. Every day, the students will write classwork and homework.
If there is a test date posted, their study time at home should reflect their current grade. Since time is given in class, an A, B,or C student may be able to learn/memorize the info./concepts within the class period. Other students may need 15-30 minutes to study at home daily.
Assessment:
Students will be asked to recall definitions and concepts provided in the pacing guide, website, and notes given in class by memory on written tests. Tests will usually be multiple choice and fill in the blank.
Notes may not be used, as this would change the expectations of the test.
The goal for all students is to reach mastery on the information/concepts provided in class AND to retain this information for high school. Older concepts will be repeated on tests. Within a semester, if two or more tests are similar, and a student has proven their mastery has improved, the first or prior test/s scores will be changed to indicate their current level of mastery.
Required Materials:
Two pencils, two high lighters, three colored pencils, paper, and one folder in their binder that has two pockets.
Extra Credit:
Extra credit is available every quarter and is due two weeks before the quarter/semester ends.
